A rule that many folks know is to never take a picture with a bright light behind the subject. This is a good rule, but it only applies to automatic cameras - when shooting manually a strong backlight can make for a really interesting and magical look, as in this portrait of Romulus on his morning walk...

Redcar Blast Furnace
This is the blast furnace at Redcar steelworks in Cleveland. A road passes very near it, so close you can see the raw iron being drained from the furnace, which makes it an interesting place to visit at any time, but it's particularly impressive at night...
