Summer Scooter

Not being much of a 'petrol head' I don't often take pictures of vehicles, but I do have a soft-spot for scooters, and this beauty basking in the sun really caught my eye, and made a fantastic picture - the color and the light just screams 'SUMMER!'

Mud Bath

Big events are lots of fun to shoot - there is so much going on you can take pictures almost continuously. This sequence is from the Pretty Muddy Race for Life run at Tatton Park, Knutsford, June 2014.

White Nancy, Bollington

Looking through some photo books of Ansel Adams' work I found myself wanting to capture something with a similar feel myself. The sky often looms large in his shots, sometimes taking the majority of the frame. With beautiful clouds in abundance I was able to capture this local folly - White Nancy on the Kerridge Ridge - against a dramatic sky. It's not quite Yosemite, but the Peak District has a unique splendor of its own.

High Contrast + Monochrome = Drama!

I do almost all of my shooting whilst out-and-about, taking photos of things going on around me. This means I have to be quick and have very limited control over any shot I take, but it also brings some surprises when it comes to reviewing the day's work.

The striking contrast in this image was one such surprise, the natural light from a nearby window overpowering the dim interior of the room, making for a dramatic shot.

Family Picnic, Bollington Festival 2014

The Bollington Festival closed this year with a family picnic - perfect weather made for easy shooting. I was particularly happy with this one, the willing subject striking a pose for the camera...
